There’s a buzz about the metropolis in the summer months, as the parks and bar terraces are thronged with the after-work or pre-show crowds, and you can enjoy a warm starlit stroll through Soho or along the Thames embankment.

Today’s Big Deal offers a four night summer stay in London with a choice of excursions and the opportunity to take in a top West End show. With relaxed train travel and comfortable central accommodation, you can sample the excitement and glamour of one of the world’s great capitals.

London calling

Available on various dates between July and September, the Big Deal option 1 is for standard class return travel by train to London from Glasgow or Edinburgh and four nights bed and breakfast accommodation in the 4-star Thistle Euston Hotel.

Option 2 adds an excursion to the great Tudor era palace of Hampton Court and leafy, riverside Richmond.

Option 3 adds a Category A theatre ticket to a blockbuster West End show. Choose from Jersey Boys, Kinky Boots, Mamma Mia!, Matilda, The Lion King, Phantom of the Opera and Wicked.

Option 4 offers a Category A theatre ticket and the Hampton Court and Richmond excursion.

Those who want to travel in style can upgrade to first class rail travel at an additional charge of £40 per person from Glasgow and £50 from Edinburgh

The offers are available on the following dates, with departures from Scotland on Mondays and return journeys from London on Friday afternoons:

Capital thrills

Your five-day stay is timed to allow you to make the most of your London stay. The itinerary goes like this:

Monday: Travel to London by rail, arriving after lunch

Tuesday: Free time in London

Wednesday: Optional excursion to Hampton Court and Richmond

Thursday: Optional excursion to Windsor (no charge)

Friday: Half day in London and leave for home after lunchtime

Travellers who choose the theatre option will have tickets for a midweek show.

Tickets are Category A, otherwise known as Top Price, in Stalls or Dress Circle for a Friday evening performance.
