Almost forty years ago today, American astronaut Alan Shepard played golf on the Moon during the Apollo 14 mission. He hit two balls using a Wilson six iron attached to a lunar sample scoop handle. Hampered by his spacesuit, he missed the ball on his first few attempts and sliced the second shot.
Had he been able to take advantage of today’s Big Deal before lift off then he might have fared considerably better.
Playsport Golf in East Kilbride has everything that a golfer needs whether you play off scratch or have difficulty getting around in less than triple figures.
As well as a PGA Coaching Centre and two tier 51 bay practice range, Playsport Golf prize feature is its Heritage Links course. A nine hole, par 32 championship course, it was inspired by UK Open Championship courses and has USGA specification greens.
It also boasts some 51 bunkers. Get trapped in a few of them and you might just get an inkling of how spaceman Shepard felt as he lashed at the sands of the Fra Mauro landing site.
While challenging, the Playsport Golf course is considerably more hospitable than the Moon. You can enjoy golfing around its nine holes thanks to today’s Big Deal which is:
£40 for £100 credit at the golf range at Playsport Golf in East Kilbride; a 60% saving on the standard £100
