Afternoon tea is so good that we would eat it morning, noon and night if we could.
In fact, the only possible way to improve on afternoon tea is to serve it in a castle.
Step forward today’s Big Deal.
Enjoy the best meal of all with today’s Big Deal on afternoon tea for two from Cornhill Castle Hotel by Biggar.
Situated in ten acres of beautiful countryside and overlooking the River Clyde, Cornhill Castle Hotel is the perfect venue for a refined afternoon tea.
It came under new management earlier this year and the team are all fired up to make every guest’s experience special.
French Renaissance chateau
Styled after a French Renaissance period chateau, this elegant mansion house has been given a sensitive, tasteful restoration and conversion into a hotel.
Close to the historic town of Biggar, Lanarkshire, it is easily accessed from Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Available Sunday to Friday, from 2.30pm to 5pm, today’s Big Deal is for two people to have afternoon tea at Cornhill House Hotel. Option two allows visitors to add a glass of bubbly to your afternoon tea.
Afternoon tea includes freshly prepared sandwiches; made in-house scones and cakes with tea or coffee.
Cornhill Castle Hotel has been attracting plenty of TripAdvisor reviews since coming under new management. These comments show what recent visitors thought of the hotel and its food:
‘Always a good experience. Regular visitor and was a bit dubious when I heard was under new management. I needn’t have been! Food, service and surroundings as good and consistent as ever. Great selection, presentation and value for money. Location stunning, will return soon.’
‘Good food and great service. This is a lovely country house. The staff were brilliant and very helpful. The food was good too. Full bar for drinks. Be sure to walk around the grounds with lovely views of the river and fields. Plenty of parking.’
‘I have visited Cornhill House many times for dinner but didn’t realise they also did afternoon tea, this might be something new as the hotel has recently been bought over. We were served our afternoon tea in the large conservatory… with lovely views of the surrounding countryside… The staff were very pleasant when serving the tea although it would be nice to get an explanation of what the various sandwiches and cakes are… There were various sandwiches, a chicken wrap, some scones and some small cakes, all quite a nice size to be able to finish and not be too full… would recommend the afternoon tea.’
This offer would make a lovely treat for a friend or family member. A little drive through the summer countryside to Cornhill Castle Hotel perhaps followed by a stroll around the grounds and then afternoon tea – perfect.
