Hotel near to key attractions

Attractions such as the Casino Cosmopol, Avenyn shopping street, Nordstan Shopping Centre and the City Museum of Gothenburg are all within a ten-minute walk.
The hotel’s 24-hour reception has the novelty of being a ‘barception’ and there is also a restaurant serving Asian cuisine, plus a fitness centre with a sauna.
Each of the ensuite rooms has air-conditioning, a comfy armchair or sofa, flat-screen TV with cable/satellite, mini-bar, radio alarm clock, hairdryer and free WiFi. Several offer impressive views of the harbour and river.
Although this offer does not include breakfast, you may still want to tuck into the varied buffet selection each morning.
A leading seaport, Gothenburg is very much a water city, with the Göta älv river, harbour, Amsterdam-esque canals, aquariums and maritime museums all being key attractions. Plus there are various beaches, piers and cliffs near to the city.
It is also very easy to explore on foot and, with its leafy boulevards, pleasant as well (although the tram network offers an alternative method of getting around).
Gothenburg is actually a bit of a foodie enclave, as it has no less than six Michelin starred restaurants (unusual for a city of its size). While there, make sure to try out local delicacies such as pickled herring, oysters, sea salt chocolate and coffee with cinnamon buns.
Avenyn Boulevard is a key spot for shopping and nightlife, plus it’s also worth heading to the atmospheric candlelit pubs in the historic Haga district. Or you could explore the achingly hip Majorna neighbourhood if the mood takes you.
Visitor highlights include Gothenburg Botanical Garden, the Liseberg amusement park, the Universeum science centre with its rainforest zone and the riverside oasis of King’s Park. The 18th century Museum of Gothenburg charts a staggering 12,000 years of the area’s history.
First class cuisine, centuries of heritage and peaceful canal walks – what more could you ask for?
Recent guests at Comfort Hotel Göteborg have left positive feedback on TripAdvisor, giving it a healthy overall score of 4/5 based on over 350 reviews:
‘Nice hotel. Cheap place to stay just a few minutes walk from all the action! Good selection of food for breakfast. We didn’t try the main restaurant for dinner so can’t comment on this. Free tea and coffee available 24/7 is a nice touch in the lobby area, along with cosy seating areas for a quiet relaxing sit down. Modern decor throughout and friendly staff.’
‘Beautiful unique hotel in Gothenburg. I remember staying at this hotel before the refurbishment and I can say it’s made a HUGE difference. Our room had a beautiful view overlooking the harbour and was incredibly quiet. It’s very easy In Gothenburg as everything is on your doorstep, including the ferry, the airport bus and the tram. Breakfast here had a massive selection, you will not go hungry, let’s put it that way. I also love the fact that this hotel (and most of Sweden) are cash-free, I wish I could move there. The eco-friendly policies are great and more hotels need to get on board with this. When I come back to Gothenburg I will be staying here.’
‘Very good beds and good sleep, nice rooms with a view. Reception (Barception) staff was super friendly. Good breakfast to get you going, nice selection of fresh stuff & good bread! Lounge is super nice, could almost have stolen the furniture and those rope lamps. Such a good stay, they even have nice restaurant called OGBG located right next to lobby. Located by the water, good spot for morning walks & not too far from city centre.’
