The Morar Hotel

Built in 1902, it started out in life as the Station Hotel.
The property is still only feet away from Morar Station – handy if arriving by train.

Sea View room

Option one is for two people to stay one night in a double or twin Sea View room with a full Scottish breakfast and three course dinner.

Option two is for two people to stay two nights in a double or twin Sea View room with a full Scottish breakfast and three course dinner on the first night.

All rooms are ensuite and have WiFi, TV, welcome trays, fluffy towels and individually controlled heating.

Both options are available seven days a week in October, and Wednesday to Sunday thereafter.

Local and organic

Dinner is three courses from the set menu. The chef likes to use local and organic produce as much as possible and all dishes are prepared to order. With the bustling fishing port of Mallaig only three miles away, fresh fish is a frequent special.

The set menu changes regularly but typical starters might be the chicken liver and Cognac pâté with crispy salad and Melba toast or the Caesar salad with croutons, Parmesan flakes and Caesar dressing.

Popular main courses include the roast loin of Scottish pork with forest mushroom sauce or the poached Mallaig haddock with white wine and a dill cream sauce.

See & do

Morar is a tranquil village at the end of the Road to the Isles. The scenery remains as unspoilt as it always did.

As does the peace and quiet. 

The hotel is closed in the day to non-residents unless by prior booking. This ensures that residents enjoy quiet lounge, bar and deck areas, in keeping with the feeling of a Highland retreat.

If you want to get out and about, there is plenty of fishing, golf and walking on the doorstep.

Or you could visit attractions like the Ben Nevis Distillery Visitor Centre or the iconic Eilean Donan Castle.

Nearby Glenfinnan Railway Museum lets visitors journey back in time and learn about the history of rail travel in the West Highlands.

Behind the railway station stands the Glenfinnan Railway Viaduct which is better known to generations of Harry Potter fans as a key landmark for the Hogwarts Express.
