Perched above the fishing village of Lochinver on the rugged coastline of Sutherland, The Inver Lodge Hotel is one of the best in the Highlands. There you can enjoy luxury accommodation in the middle of one of Europe’s last unspoiled wildernesses.

Prices are based on two people sharing a standard twin or double room. There is the option to upgrade to a superior twin or double for £30 per night, or an executive twin or double for £70 per night.

The deal is valid from 1st April until the 18th May, with a £50 supplement for Saturday night stays, and a £50 per night supplement for all May dates.

The Inver Lodge is nestled on top of a rocky hill and surrounded by mountains. The fishing village of Lochinver is a short walk away and on a clear day you can look across the water all the way to the Western Isles.

The restaurant is run by legendary chef Albert Roux who brings gourmet French flair to local Scottish ingredients.

Why not start your day with a loch-side walk, followed by afternoon tea in the lounge in front of the log fire?

After this, you could unwind in the sauna or treat yourself to an in-room massage from the hotel’s holistic therapist. Then you could head to the bar for a malt whisky and sample Inver Lodge’s special blend of malt, before enjoying fine dining in the Chez Roux restaurant.

Loch view bedrooms

Each of the hotel’s 21 ensuite guest rooms has spectacular views over the loch, meaning that the minute you arrive you’ll be able to soak in the atmosphere. All are decorated in traditional Highland style and named after a loch, such as Canisp, Suilven and Assynt.

Rooms have plenty of space, allowing for king size beds, a writing desk, dressing table and easy chairs for you to relax in and enjoy the view.

Other features include a flat screen TV, minibar, WiFi, phone, radio, alarm clock, bathrobes and hairdryer, as well as a selection of teas and cafetiere coffee.


Double AA Rosette restaurant

As mentioned, it would be well worth dining at Chez Roux during your stay. The brainchild of superstar chef Albert Roux, he describes the restaurant’s cuisine as ‘Hearty country cooking using all the wonderful products from the sea, which is literally on the doorstep.’

The menu can shift with the seasons but sample mains might include the confit duck leg with heritage carrots & orange sauce, the pan-seared monkfish tail with sautéed spinach & Shetland mussels, and the 32-day prime aged Scotch ribeye steak with dauphinoise potato & bearnaise sauce.

Stunning Sutherland

Inver Lodge is in the Dee Valley and is overlooked by the wildlife-filled Canisp and Suilven mountains, making it ideal for outdoor lovers.

You could spend the day hiking, boating, seal spotting, climbing, mountain biking, golfing, fishing, angling or birdwatching before relaxing back at the hotel.

If you are feeling energetic, you could even hike the ten miles to Loch Assynt to try to spot the legendary mermaid who’s said to lurk beneath the waters.
