In between cutting his first songs with Sun Records in 1953 and his final gigs in 1977, Elvis Presley played thousands of concerts in the United States.

However, with the exception of five shows in Canada, he didn’t play a single concert anywhere else in the world; a fact which has been deeply regretted by European jumpsuit manufacturers, Asian sequin sellers and global fast food chains ever since.

Of course, famously, Presley did touch down at Prestwick Airport. It was the only time that he set foot on British soil but his two hour stop-over didn’t leave much time for hip-swivellin’ or indeed loving anyone tender.

You can make up for missing out on the King’s concerts with today’s Big Deal to see top Elvis tribute act Lee Memphis King in his One Night of Elvis show at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Sunday 5th June 2011.

Lee Memphis King not only sounds like the real thing, he can also shake his pants in a very authentic Elvis-like fashion.

This talent has not gone unrecognised. Lee was awarded the ultimate accolade of World Champion Elvis Tribute Artist at the Collingwood Elvis Festival – the largest and most respected Elvis tribute contest and Elvis festival in the world today.

The One Night of Elvis show includes a big band; multi-media screens and projection as Lee takes his fans on an authentic journey through the rock ‘n’ roll rollercoaster of Elvis’ career.

The biggest Elvis show to tour theatres in the UK, Lee aims to lovingly and respectfully bring the King’s performances to life in authentic detail.

He’s mighty good at it. The real Elvis’ lifelong pal Joe Esposito heard Lee Memphis King sing and commented, ‘When I closed my eyes I could feel Elvis. He did a great job – Awesome!’

Special guest at the show is PJ Proby. The Sixties icon worked as Elvis’s demo man and, during the performance, he will be talking about his time with the King Of Rock & Roll.
