The roar of a powerful engine, the smell of burning rubber and the cheers of the crowd can only mean two things.
It is either time for the Official Scottish Motorshow at Knockhill or Gran has tried to turn her stair lift into a space shuttle launch pad again.
Leaving aside the undeniable allure of DIY geriatric space missions, the Official Scottish Motorshow will take place at Knockhill this coming weekend of Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 May.
An interactive family event, it is time to get in gear for two days of motoring action, top notch driving skills, manufacturers’ latest models and breath-taking stunts that you really shouldn’t try at home.
At the throbbing heart of the show are the displays from Europe’s top motor manufacturers and dealers. All the latest preview models will be on display and there might even be a peek at some cars which have yet to have their official UK launch.
New for 2011 is a display of manufacturers’ latest green machines. All the cutting edge hybrids, electric and dual fuel cars will be showcased.
Spread over the two days, there is huge variety of engine-based entertainment including:
World Stunt Bike Champion Kevin Carmichael
A biplane air display
Demo track rides
Paul Swift Ford Stunt Show
New Education Zone & Green Zone
Miss Scotland and personalities
Demo rides on track, 4×4 rides plus much more.
Abarth Aerobatic Air Show
Supercar session on track and in paddock
Classic car display
Amazing Formula Racing Car lap record attempt
Kids’ zone featuring fun fair rides, free face painting, bouncy castle and fishy friends from Deep Sea World
Finally, the Big Deal knows better than to suggest that men like motors and women don’t but, on Sunday, there will be an added bonus in the form of the Ladies’ Day RPM Zone.
Standing for Relaxation, Pampering and Make-over, it offers an alternative to anybody who has had their fill of torque talk.
