The Saint bar and restaurant in Glasgow has just taken delivery of a brand new baby grand piano and they are not afraid to use it. Come Hogmanay, Gareth Williams will be tinkling the ivories at The Saint as he serenades revellers who have booked in for their five course gourmet dinner.
Mr Williams is a familiar face around the city’s piano bars with stints at Blue Dog and Corinthian among many others. He plays foot-stomping happy classics, the kind of tunes you thought you’d forgotten and didn’t realise you loved so much.
He will be knocking out the musical numbers at The Saint until 10pm and then, from 11pm to 3am, DJs will be keeping The Saint rocking way into the New Year.
The Saint’s retro-styling, cracking cocktail list and gastro pub menus from chef Paul O’Malley have quickly earned the Bath Street venue a glowing reputation as party central. You can see what all the fuss is about for half price thanks to their generous Hogmanay Big Deal.
All together now, ‘5 . . . 4 . . . 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . . Happy New Year! Should auld acquaintance be forgot and er, hmm, mumble, mumble, mumble. What? Another French Martini? How kind.’
