Have you ever been to outer spice?
Take a trip to Usha’s with today’s Big Deal and enjoy a meal which is out of this world.
A firm favourite among the city’s curry connoisseurs, Usha’s is at the bottom of Byres Road in the West End.
An enticing mix of home-style cooking and recipes developed by a chef who has worked at The Dorchester and exclusive Middle Eastern hotels, Usha’s dishes are designed for sharing.
Available Monday to Saturday, this Big Deal – Big Dahl? – is for two people and comes in two options – share three tapas dishes from the street tapas menu with a naan and portion of rice, or share six tapas dishes and two naans or two portions of rice.
There is a £1 supplement for lamb dishes or to upgrade to peshwari or garlic coriander naan.
Popular options include the achari chicken – pan-fried chicken cooked in a lime and chilli pickle; the tender lamb with okra and the spiced chicken chana – spicy, pan-fried chicken cooked with a chana Punjabi masala and fresh green chillies.
Usha’s is very strong on veggie-friendly dishes. We recommend the aubergine bharta: smoked and mashed aubergines cooked to a traditional recipe.
We also fancy the paneer Jaipuri. A dish from the orange city of Jaipur, it is made from roasted chunks of paneer cooked with roasted mixed peppers, onions and mushrooms.
Usha’s has a fantastic 4.5/5 rating on TripAdvisor. Edited for length, these recent reviews are typical:
‘Lovely food and good service. The food was absolutely amazing. All of the meals were perfectly cooked. My parents had a curry for the first time and they loved it. The service was great as well. Well recommended…’
‘Wow! Just wow! Best Indian food we have both had! Great relaxing atmosphere and fantastic service. Everything was faultless from start to finish… it was tremendous.’
‘Fantastic flavours, great service, sensible prices, terrific ambience. I have nothing but praise for the quality of the meals here. Smaller portions so had three portions between two which allows the opportunity to try different dishes. Been here four times in three weeks!’
Keep calm and curry on
This fabulous offer from Usha’s Indian restaurant is a must for curry lovers.
It would be ideal for catch-up dinner with a friend; an easy date night or a spicy lunch, perhaps even a lazy Saturday lunch.
At the bottom end of Byres Road, Usha’s is just a five minute walk from Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and within easy walking distance of the SEC and Hydro.
Handy if you are going to a gig in the next couple of months.
