Ah gin. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways…
Actually, we don’t have time for all that.
We’re too busy sorting out today’s Big Deal on a Boe Gin afternoon tea at the much-loved Baby Grand on Elmbank Gardens.
One of Glasgow’s longest-running and most welcoming piano bars, Baby Grand may be tucked away by Charing Cross railway station but it is well worth seeking out.
If you haven’t been before, this Big Deal is the perfect introduction.
Available seven days a week, with sittings at 2pm and 4pm, this offer is for two or four people to have afternoon tea with a Boe Gin cocktail teapot per couple to share.
Tuck in to free range egg mayonnaise in a crisp potato nest plus finger sandwiches. Sweet treats include the likes of passion fruit creme brûlée.
Please note that sandwich fillings and sweet treats are subject to change – an array of fresh cakes are made daily.
Your gin cocktail teapot will feature either violet or passionfruit gin with flavoured mixers.
As well as your cocktail teapot, guests can enjoy a pot of tea or coffee.
Charing Cross institution
For over thirty years, Baby Grand has been drawing customers to its well-hidden location by Charing Cross rail station.
From early morning coffees to late night cocktails, often accompanied by some smooth tunes on the baby grand piano, the bar, restaurant and supper club has something to offer everyone.
It’s a cosmopolitan hang-out and, fingers crossed, if the sun is shining then you might be able to make like our Continental cousins and eat al fresco.
Baby Grand has built a large following of loyal customers and is still attracting new fans. This is what recent visitors had to say on the restaurant’s 5pm entry:
‘Great food and wine, also great customer service. Highly recommend a visit.’ Rating 5/5
‘Great little restaurant. Well located, great atmosphere, food and service great. There were eight of us and we all enjoyed an after theatre meal & wine.’ Rating 4/5
‘Lovely meal, nice staff, chilled atmosphere.’ Rating 5/5
Baby Grand is a five minute stroll from the King’s Theatre which means that this Big Deal would be ideal for a light bite and snifter before, or indeed after, taking in a matinee show.
To be honest, we’re just going to bunk off work and kick back for the afternoon.
Don’t tell the Boss but we’ll be in Baby Grand for the rest of the year.
