Squirrels prepare for the cold months by stashing their food away.
Make like a squirrel and ensure that you have a fun winter by stashing away today’s Big Deal on an overnight stay at the four star Knock Castle Hotel and Spa in Crieff.
Valid until the end of March 2013, this offer is a great way to stay bright eyed bushy tailed in the face of winter.
Sitting pretty above the old drovers’ town of Crieff, Knock Castle Hotel and Spa is only a short drive from Glasgow or Edinburgh but its tranquil grounds mean that it seems worlds away from the stress of the Central Belt.
Valid seven days a week, today’s Big Deal is for an overnight stay in a Lomond Room within the main building or one of the large rooms in the Castle Lodge, which sits at the foot of the hotel’s gardens. To help you settle in to your new surroundings, a bottle of wine awaits your arrival.
Designed in the same luxurious style as the main building, the Lodge’s vast rooms are ideal for a couple looking to get away from it all and the building also features a cosy lounge, dining room and a lift to all floors.
A full Scottish breakfast is part of the deal – there’s no finer way to prepare for a day exploring the surrounding countryside.
The Big Deal also gives you full use of the gym and pool complex which offers a wide range of facilities including sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and spa bath. The heated indoor pool has relaxing views onto the Hotel’s wooded gardens.
The offer includes a £10 voucher for each guest to be used against any spa treatment during your stay and £10 for a session in the Egg – a relaxation capsule designed to deliver the benefits of a clothed, full body massage.
As mentioned, a full Scottish breakfast is included in the deal and, if you also decide to take other meals at the hotel, then you can enjoy the superb views from the new Rooftop Restaurant. Freshly cooked, local produce takes pride of place on the table d’hote menu.
Look out for starters such as the fresh West coast mussels served with Blackfriars Ale Cream sauce and crusty bread or main courses such as the slow roasted pork belly with braised red cabbage, black pudding and bubble ‘n’ squeak.
Alternatively, open for dinner on Thursdays to Sundays, the classically styled Oak Restaurant at Knock Castle serves a fine dining a la carte menu and a seven course degustation menu.
Typical dishes might be the starter of venison carpaccio with a redcurrant sauce and rocket and Parmesan salad or the main course of char grilled Scottish beef fillet served on confit cherry tomatoes, fondant potato, turned courgettes and a tarragon hollandaise.
Please note that the Oak restaurant has a collar and tie dress code while the dress code for the Rooftop Restaurant is smart casual.
Guests may also venture out onto the Rooftop Terrace anytime of the year where they can enjoy a pre or post dinner drink.
Knock Castle Hotel and Spa was earned lots of glowing reviews. The following come from TripAdvisor:
‘Excellent. After an evening stay at Knock Castle, I can confirm that I will definitely stay again. The staff were extremely attentive and warm and the room I stayed in was perfect. It was spotless and the extras across the room and bathroom (for example, stairs leading up to the bath with a serious view) were lovely. The castle has ticked all boxes for me and I recommend a stay for anyone in need of some relaxation.’
‘We have enjoyed a fantastic spa day at Knock Castle. The treatments are absolutely amazing, the therapists could not have been more helpful. The food was brilliant. Extremely relaxing day, would recommend and definitely go back. Thanks.’
