2013 looks like going down in history as The Year We Actually Had A Summer.
Make your own memories of this rare occurrence by snapping up today’s Big Deal on two night mini-breaks at the boutique Putechan Hotel.
Once the Duke of Argyll’s hunting lodge, the recently refurbished and extended Putechan Hotel sits on the western edge of Kintyre. Facing the Atlantic, it has stunning views of Islay, Jura and Gigha, all seen at their best when lit by the sinking sun.
Surrounded by rugged grounds with an amazing, private, pebble beach, the hotel offers great vantage points spotting passing dolphins and Minke whales as well as the local otter population.
Put simply, the Putechan Hotel is in a remote, wild and staggeringly beautiful spot.
This tremendous offer is for two people to enjoy a relaxing, two night stay at The Putechan Hotel. A full Scottish or continental breakfast is included in the offer.
Option one is for a two night stay in a Master room. To the front of the hotel, on the ground floor, these ensuite, West-facing rooms enjoy stunning views over the Atlantic.
Option two is for a two night stay in an ensuite Principal room. Located on the first floor, these rooms have a private balcony and beautiful sea views.
Comfortable, warm and decorated in a contemporary style, all of the rooms can be set up as a double or twin and have TV with Freeview channels, tea/coffee making facilities and hair dryers.
There is a £10 per room per night supplement payable for Friday and Saturday night stays.
Argyll’s natural larder
A full Scottish or continental breakfast is included in the offer. If you choose to eat other meals at The Putechan, then you will enjoy a delicious culinary tour of Argyll’s natural larder.
The menu changes regularly. Most of the dishes are rooted in Scottish culinary traditions and the recipes are often tweaked a little to keep everything fresh and exciting.
Guests dining in the restaurant will receive a complimentary bottle of house red or white wine.
See & do
We have mentioned the great wildlife spotting opportunities to be found around The Putechan Hotel and there is so much more to do. The famous Machrihanish Golf Club and the more recently developed Machrihanish Dunes are nearby while whisky lovers can make an enjoyable pilgrimage to the Springbank Distillery in nearby Campbeltown.
With practically no light pollution, and clever outdoor lighting systems the Putechan also enjoys fantastic stargazing on a cloudless night.
Alternatively, just pick a whisky from the bar’s fine selection and watch the Atlantic surf crash onto the hotel’s beach.
In its refurbished guise, The Putechan Hotel is a relative newcomer. Already, it is attracting enthusiastic reviews. We couldn’t put it better than these recent TripAdvisor contributions from guests who made good use of a previous Big Deal offer:
‘Very enjoyable. Booked through 5pm deals. Hotel is in a stunning setting with great views. Staff are very friendly and can’t do enough to help. The food was lovely and nothing was a problem to the chef or staff. I would stay again.’
‘Stunning view. We stayed here for 2 nights on a 5pm deal and it was superb value. The room was lovely and had its own balcony with the most fantastic view and a large and very comfortable bed. We had breakfast in the hotel on both mornings and it was very tasty. All the staff were pleasant and efficient and are a credit to the owners; everyone made us feel very welcome. On arrival we were offered tickets to see a band that was playing in the hotel, Skerryvore, and they were great, we thoroughly enjoyed our night. We would definitely love to return to this hotel and have already recommended to friends and family.’
