During the spring, Loch Garten is famously home to pairs of breeding ospreys who come for the fishing and excellent nest-based accommodation.
Not that you need wings, an urge to nest and an appreciation of trout sushi to make the most of today’s Big Deal at the Boat Hotel in Boat of Garten, close to Loch Garten.
Instead, the simple desire to enjoy a short break in a friendly, comfortable hotel in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park is all that’s required to make the most of today’s Big Deal.
Two nights in classic room
This Big Deal is for two people to enjoy a two night stay (Fridays and Saturdays are excluded) in a comfortable classic double or twin room at The Boat Hotel with a full Scottish breakfast each morning.
Breakfast is something of an event at the Boat Hotel. As well as the trad cooked Scottish breakfast, you can order anything from delicate smoked Scottish haddock to meltingly beautiful eggs Florentine. Breakfast also offers a range of cold dishes and freshly baked pastries from the larder.
A family-run hotel, The Boat blends historic Highland charm with the mod cons you would expect of a 21st century hotel such as digital TVs, WiFi and room service including breakfast in bed.
Two AA Rosettes
Breakfast is included in the deal and if you choose to take other meals in The Osprey Bistro then you are in for a treat.
The kitchen has been awarded two AA Rosettes for their imaginative take on the best Scottish produce. The menus change regularly but typical starters might be the Rannoch venison carpaccio with pine nuts and rocket or the herb-crusted Shetland salmon with a saffron mash. If you take dinner in the hotel dining room, you’ll be given a £15 voucher off your wine bill as part of the Big Deal.
The Osprey Bar offers a wide range of bar meals and it also has a very explorable collection of malt whisky – perfect for relaxing with in front of the open fire.
A hawk’s eye view of the hotel would show a cosy four star hotel nestling deep in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park.
Ideally placed for walking, skiing, climbing, golf, visiting distilleries, bird watching or fishing, The Boat Hotel is a fantastic venue from which to enjoy the great outdoors.
Recent visitors to TripAdvisor have not been slow to tell of their experiences at the Boat Hotel:
‘Lovely hotel. Just back from a two night stay at this hotel and we had a lovely time. Not a modern hotel but one with a lot of character. Had a lovely twin room which was extremely clean and very welcoming. Food in the hotel was wonderful and the staff were outstanding. Would recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back.’
