If the highlight of your day at the office is the paper bin basketball tournament, you need to get out more.
Take up today’s Big Deal on a two night break at the Highlander Hotel and dive into the great outdoors.
Centrally located near Aviemore and on the doorstep of the Cairngorms National Park, it is a great base for a wide range of outdoor activities from mountain biking to hill climbing.
2 night stay
This Big Deal is for two people to spend a relaxing two night stay in the Highlander Hotel, Newtonmore, with a full Scottish breakfast each morning.
A three course dinner for two on the first night is included in the deal and guests will also enjoy a bottle of house wine in their room on arrival.
The menu changes regularly but typical starters might be the haggis and black pudding balls set on a pool of whisky cream sauce or the smoked mackerel served with a celery, apple and horseradish remoulade.
Popular main courses include the roast loin of pork served with pan jus and apple sauce or the steak and ale pie – tender chunks of beefsteak bound in a rich ale gravy and topped with puff pastry.
As well as the Malt Whisky Trail, Landmark Forest Theme Park and the Loch Insh Water Sports centre, the Wolftrax Mountain Biking centre is within easy reach of the Highlander Hotel.
There are also three golf courses, including the Newtonmore, within fifteen miles of the hotel.
Alternatively, you could curl up with a book in the lounge and enjoy something from the hotel’s fine selection of malt whiskies.
The Highlander has plenty of positive reviews on TripAdvisor. This is what a recent guest had to say of their experience at the hotel:
‘Our Highland adventure. My wife and I took our 6 year old daughter to the Highlander Hotel after seeing an offer on 5pm.co.uk. The hotel is situated 20 mins from the Landmark Forest Park which is brilliant for kids and the Highland Folk museum in Newtonmore is worth a visit. The staff at the hotel were brilliant, very friendly and helpful and with Eric and Cynthia making time for my daughter, and the service was great too.
‘We had a family room which had a double and single bed in it and still had room to move about in. The hotel could do with some updating but not too much as this added to the quaintness! The food was really good and the bar wasn’t too badly priced (£3ish a drink). Unfortunately, we had to leave a little early as my baby son decided to arrive 2 weeks early! Looking forward to heading back.’
