In the land of nursery rhymes, castles are for kings and dirty rascals aren’t allowed.
Seems rather unfair in this day and age?
Strike a blow for democracy (and relax) with today’s Big Deal on a getaway break at Stonefield Castle Hotel, near Tarbert in Argyll.
This fantastic deal comes in two versions. You can choose to stay for one or two nights in a garden view room at Stonefield Castle with a full Scottish breakfast in the morning. As part of the offer, a bottle of wine will be waiting for you in your room when you check in.
On the night of arrival, guests will enjoy a delicious meal in Loch Fyne, the hotel’s AA Rosette restaurant.
Guests have the option to dine from the three course set menu or redeem an allowance of £25 per person against dishes from the a la carte menu.
For guests staying two nights, dinner is included in the offer on the first night only.
Set within 60 acres of woodland gardens, Stonefield Castle Hotel was built in 1837 and many of the beautiful Scottish baronial period features have been retained.
Near to the pretty fishing village of Tarbert, the castle stands high on the famous Kintyre peninsula and has spectacular views over Loch Fyne and the gardens.
Each of the 32 rooms is individually decorated and all are ensuite. The hotel offers WiFi.
As part of the Big Deal, guests will dine in the hotel restaurant. The restaurant has been awarded an AA rosette for the high quality of its cooking and locally sourced beef and seafood take pride of place on the menu. The only thing that may distract you from the food is the breath-taking view over the loch.
After dinner, you can choose to relax in the traditional elegance of the wood panelled bar and perhaps enjoy a dram by the blazing log fire.
We ran a similar deal to this last year. People who bought it commented that they liked the great value it represented while one buyer reckoned that it was the ideal birthday present for his wife.
Other guests have not been shy about making their views heard on TripAdvisor. This recent, enthusiastic contribution says it all. We’ve edited it for length but not meaning:
‘A perfect memory for a special birthday. We stayed midweek for a couple of days as part of my 40th birthday celebrations and we both agree it was fantastic from start to finish. The castle itself is beautiful; it’s furnished perfectly and luxuriously throughout. The open log fire in the reception hall with comfy sofas is perfect for a pre-dinner drink; the library and the drawing room are beautiful and inviting too.
Our room was lovely, warm, cosy and a really comfy bed and blackout curtains for an undisturbed sleep! The shower is great, no problem with pressure or heat which you can sometimes find in old buildings. The service from all staff was first class; lovely people, friendly, helpful and professional…
Where do I start with the food? It truly deserves the AA rosettes awarded. We ate in the restaurant the first night and the bar the second evening and both meals were absolutely delicious. Having a full breakfast or eggs Benedict looking out over Loch Fyne is a wonderful way to start the day.’
