A few years back, Beyoncé visited Edinburgh and was moved to comment that ‘Edinburgh is a real classy city’.
Edinburgh replied that ‘If you liked it so much then you should have put a ring on it… but we’ll take the compliment’.
Take up today’s Big Deal with the stylish Rick’s Hotel and come see the city that bowled over Mrs Shawn Carter.
Centrally located on Frederick Street in the heart of the capital, Rick’s has ten super chic bedrooms, a popular, innovative restaurant and a vibrant cocktail bar.
Part of the multi-award winning Montpeliers group, Rick’s set the pace for Edinburgh’s fashionable nightlife when it launched in 1999 and it still leads the pack today.
Ideally suited for a sleek city break, this offer is for two people to enjoy an overnight stay in one of the ten designer-styled rooms.
As well as a full cooked breakfast, guests will enjoy a cocktail each as well as snacks at the buzzy bar in Rick’s.
There is a £25 supplementary charge for Friday night stays and a £50 charge for Saturday night stays.
Chic and comfortable
With just ten rooms, Rick’s provides a boutique alternative to big corporate chains and that independent streak shines through in the decor of the bedrooms. Elegant walnut headboards; angora and lambs’ wool blankets plus custom-designed furniture means that the rooms look great and feel just as welcoming.
Cable TV, DVD players and your own sound system mean that top notch in-room entertainment is available at the flick of a switch, and, of course, WiFi is available.
A full Scottish breakfast is included in the offer but if you choose to take other meals in Rick’s restaurant then your taste buds are in for a classy time.
Fresh produce and local suppliers are at the heart of the menu in Rick’s restaurant.
Typical main courses at Rick’s might include the pan-seared seabass with pak choi, goats cheese mash, lobster cream sauce or the roast rump of lamb served with crushed potato, caramelised red onion and red wine jus.
‘Delish,’ as Beyoncé probably would have said.
Rick’s is brilliantly located for the shops of George Street not to mention the temptations of Harvey Nicks. Major attractions such as Edinburgh Castle, the National Museums of Scotland and the National Galleries are all a short stroll away.
While the fab location is a big plus point, what guests tend to mention is the friendly, welcoming service. This is what a typical and recent TripAdvisor reviewer had to say. We’ve cut it for length but not meaning.
‘Fantastic staff. Had an overnight stay here on a 5pm.co.uk deal and what a great deal it was… From the minute we walked in the door the welcome & efficiency of the staff were the best I have ever experienced. Our room was on the second floor & really nice with comfortable bed, complimentary bottles of water, TV, DVD & iPod for using plus access to a library of DVDs.
‘The bathroom was nice, could do with a lick of paint, but that was it on a negative point. I’d contacted them before booking the deal to ask about vegetarian options (they do a vegetarian breakfast too!) and nothing was too much bother for them, the vegetarian stroganoff was lovely. The waiter we had was the nicest one I’d ever encountered…very knowledgeable, friendly & polite. If you get the chance to stay or eat here then jump at it.’
