In the immortal words of the band Dodgy (younger readers may wish to consult YouTube), we’re planning on staying out for the summer.
And we’re going to be doing a lot of hanging out at Siempre Bicycle Cafe on Dumbarton Road.
Independent and buzzy
A buzzy, independent cafe and bike shop, Siempre is the sort of friendly spot that every neighbourhood should have.
Locally sourced products, organic where possible; a community-driven ethos and a suntrap back yard are among its many attractions.
Today’s Big Deal on a sharing platter with a carafe of wine is the perfect introduction to Siempre Bicycle Cafe.
Incidentally, you don’t have to be wearing cycle shorts to fit in here. It’s right next to Kelvinhall subway station if you don’t fancy getting there by pedal power.
Available seven days a week, 11am-5pm, the Big Deal is for two people to share a carafe of house wine along with one of the inviting sharing platters listed below:
Charcuterie Platter: prosciutto, salami, chorizo and pickles, served with seasonal organic chutney
Fromagerie Platter: Brie, blue, cheddar, and apple, served with seasonal organic chutney
Seafood Platter: smoked salmon, crayfish, mackerel pâté, capers, crème fraiche and caper dip
Mixed Platter: salami, Prosciutto, Brie, blue cheese, served with seasonal organic chutney
Vegetarian Platter: selection of hummous, char grilled veg, kick ass olives and Vietnamese sides
All the platters are served with crusty bread or gluten-free oatcakes.
Visitors to the Siempre Bicycle Cafe have not been slow to wheel out the reviews on the caff’s Facebook page. Here are a couple of recent ones:
‘Great place, wonderful atmosphere and lovely coffee. Roll on the sunny days here in Partick as the outside area is fab.’
‘Excellent coffee, including decaf (one of the few in Glasgow), like all the food, wine and drinks I have tried too. Everything is as locally sourced as possible and is very fresh.’
We’re planning on filling our summer with fresh air, sunshine and plenty of visits to Siempre Bicycle Cafe.
If that sounds like your kind of plan then make tracks to today’s Big Deal and enjoy a sharing platter and carafe of wine with a friend.
