In Valhalla, the Viking warriors were said to feast on wild boar and mead.
Foods which were nearly as tasty as their Glasgow equivalents: chicken chasni and haggis pakora.
Feast like a legend with today’s Big Deal on a tapas lunch for two at Mr Singh’s India – one of Glasgow’s best loved Indian restaurants.
Long established Indian
Since opening around twenty years ago, three generations of the Singh family have served Glasgow’s curry lovers with menus that blend Indian culinary tradition with the occasional Scottish twist.
The Elderslie Street restaurant had a face-lift a couple of years back and is looking more handsome than ever.
In fact, it’s nearly a match for the staff who cut quite a dash in their kilts and turbans.
Available Sunday and Tuesday to Friday, today’s Big Deal is for two people to enjoy the brilliant tapas lunch menu. Ideal for curry fans that want variety, it’s a great way to taste several authentic Indian dishes.
The menu has ten different starters and twelve different main courses. Each couple can share any three starters and two main courses. The offer also includes rice for two.
The menu is packed with great dishes. The selection of starters includes haggis pakora, chicken wings, bhajis and mali mushrooms.
Tempting main courses include the chicken rogan josh and the lamb ambala – the Singh family signature dish made to a secret recipe.
If you like your curry mild then try the chicken korma – a fruity fusion of yoghurt, saffron milk, pineapples, peaches, mango or bananas.
Those who like their prawns to come with a punch might want to sample the prawn jalandhari – a potent fusion of ginger, garlic, onion, peppers, coconut cream and fresh herbs, all simmered in a chilli sauce.
Traditionalists can enjoy the lamb desi – a home style lamb curry cooked with fresh ginger, garlic, green chillies and fresh coriander.
