Football is all about opinions isn’t it? Oh, and goals as well, maybe. A match only lasts 90 minutes though, while discussion can rage on forever (or until the pub shuts).
Any gathering of aficionados of the beautiful game will automatically throw up a wealth of arguments, theories, insights and lunatic ideas. Scots are popularly fond of this kind of interaction. After all, as inventors of the beautiful game (other claimants are available) who better to put it to rights over a couple of hours of debate?
Today’s Big Deal offers just that, with tickets to You Are The Ref Question Time, a fun, fact-filled and frank discussion of everything soccer-related in the company of two of the game’s most respected former players and (no booing) two top grade referees.
A neat pass out right
The Big Deal option one offers one admission ticket for the You Are The Ref Question Time at the Walkabout in Glasgow on Friday 25 March. Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.30pm kick-off, ending at 10pm.
Option 2 offers a VIP ticket which allows mingling with the panellists and the chance for selfies and autographs before the start.
The event is organised by You Are The Ref, the refereeing organisation and media channel that offers expert information and discussion about the game’s laws and their interpretation. It takes place in the Walkabout sports bar on Renfield Street, always a popular venue for passionate sports fans. Leading the discussion are two of the best-known names in Scottish football.
The event will also be covered by Sky Sports News.
Neil Lennon won titles as a player and manager with Celtic and enjoyed an eventful and successful four years in charge of the Hoops.
Alongside him is a former Tottenham and Manchester United goalscorer who has carved out a second career as a colourful and opinionated pundit on Talksport. His name is synonymous with beautiful, stylish and technically-superb football, but that’s maybe just because he is called Alan Brazil.
Also present are two big name referees, Mark Halsey and Keith Hackett, to provide expert input on the game’s laws. Neither ever refereed an Old Firm game, so it’s no good blaming them for that clear offside back in ’98.
Comic Jed Stone ensures fair(ish) play. Ticket-holders are asked not to wear football colours as we don’t want the debate to get too partisan.
And he’s scored!
This Big Deal at the You Are The Ref Question Time at Walkabout offers the perfect gift opportunity for the football fan in your family. With experts ready to field a wide range of questions, it would make a great Friday night out and the perfect preparation for Saturday afternoon at the game.
