A much loved feature of Glasgow’s West End, Booly Mardys was originally going to be called Bloody Marys but a trademark dispute meant a change of plans was required.
Other anagrams of Bloody Marys include Lardy Boys Om; A Bosom Dryly and My Bay Drools.
All of which have giggle potential but don’t quite say ‘Top notch cocktail bar’ in the same way that Booly Mardys does.
Whichever way you mix it up, today’s Big Deal with Booly Mardys spells a great meal out.
Booly Mardys opened in July 2003 and won several awards from the top drinks magazine Theme shortly afterwards.
While the skills of their mixologists most of the attention, the chefs in the kitchen are also pretty nifty at producing top class tucker.
Three course festive meal
Today’s Big Deal is for three courses of fab festive fare and tea or coffee to finish. Available noon to 7pm, the menu comprises:
Parsnip and chestnut soup
Crayfish salad with a Marie Rose Sauce
Roast turkey with all the trimmings
Organic brioche with chestnuts, mushrooms and port sauce, glazed baby potatoes and seasonal vegetables
Or mulled wine panna cotta
Available from noon to 7pm, this Big Deal would be perfect for an intimate pre-Christmas or New Year celebration with family, friends or colleagues.
A couple of customers have reviewed Booly Mardys in the restaurant section of 5pm. They have both rated it 5/5. This is what Frasier Gregal had to say recently:
‘Excellent, service was ***** stars.’
