Encouraged by his wife’s fondness for shows like MasterChef and Bake Off, a friend once bought a set of novelty cookie cutters for Valentine’s.
It’s the sort of blunder you only make once.
Whether you are looking for a present to give a loved one or simply fancy a relaxing break in some of Scotland’s most beautiful countryside, today’s Big Deal on an overnight getaway at the Loch Fyne Hotel & Spa in Inveraray will bake anybody’s biscuits.
If you haven’t been to Inveraray, it sits on the banks of Loch Fyne, one of Argyll’s most stunning beauty spots.
Ideal for a romantic break, the Loch Fyne Hotel & Spa is the sort of destination that many of us would love to be whisked off to.
Around an hour and a half from Glasgow by car, it is also a very convenient location for a getaway.
Available seven days a week, the Big Deal is for two people to enjoy an overnight stay in a double or twin room at Loch Fyne Hotel & Spa. Full use of the leisure facilities is part of the offer.
Guests will enjoy a six course taster dinner menu and a full Scottish breakfast the next morning – ideal preparation for a day exploring the spectacular Argyll countryside or simply enjoying the hotel’s beautiful location on the banks of Loch Fyne.
Valentine’s Day is excluded. There is a supplement of £50 for Friday and Saturday night stays.
All the rooms are en-suite, decorated in warm, natural shades and fitted with high quality fittings and furnishings including coffee making facilities, a hairdryer and trouser press. Free WiFi is available throughout the hotel.
Locally produced ingredients are shown at their best by the skilled team in the kitchen. The six course taster menu changes daily but typical sample dishes might be a pan-seared scallop, Stornoway black pudding and cauliflower purée followed by the pavé of lamb, fondant potato, pak choi, garlic confit and rosemary jus.
The food is complemented by an extensive wine list; many malt whiskies and a great selection of brews from Loch Fyne Ales.
The hotel’s spa features comprehensive leisure facilities including an indoor heated pool, steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi and the much loved, outdoor, Canadian hot tub. For an additional charge, spa therapies and beauty treatments are available in the Sonas Spa. Advance booking is required for spa treatments.
The Loch Fyne Hotel & Spa has made many guests very happy. This is what a recent Big Deal customer thought:
‘This was originally booked using 5pm deals and we upgraded prior to arrival. The room allocated was the Glen Ord and it was first class with great views of Loch Fyne. The staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough to assist. The food in the restaurant was excellent from the six course taster menu on our first night to the a la carte on our last evening. Service throughout was very good. We used the spa and outdoor hot tub and this is to be recommended. Again the spa staff were excellent. I would recommend this hotel to all.’
Although not valid for Valentine’s Day itself, this offer would be very popular were it to flutter from a loved one’s card on the fourteenth of February.
What’s it to be? Will you risk the novelty cookie cutters? Or bank on a romantic break in one of Scotland’s most gorgeous beauty spots?
