If the thought of veganuary – going vegan for January – makes you see red then today’s Big Deal from MeatHook is much more likely to tickle your pickle.
A recently opened burger and BBQ bar at Partick Cross, their menu is a carnivore’s dream.
And with a location which is just a hop, skip and a jump from Kelvinhall subway, it’s a very convenient dream.
Their meaty flame-grilled burgers are made with locally sourced beef and chicken while southern style BBQ rubs and spices mean that the food emerging from their smoker tastes divine.
In fact, the chefs at MeatHook on Partick Bridge Street take it so seriously that they even make their own mustards, ketchup and relishes.
Meal for two
Available seven days a week, this Big Deal is for two people to each have any burger or hot dog from the all day menu. Or you can share a BBQ platter.
There are several burgers to choose from. We like the sound of the chilli beef but can see why you might go for the char grilled shrimp or the chicken topped with pineapple relish.
Veggie burger options include the falafel and five bean chilli or the smoked field mushroom and halloumi.
The dogs are available as pork or veggie options and can be crowned with toppings such as sauerkraut, chilli cheese or cream cheese and jalapeño.
The sharing platters come in two varieties. Choose between pulled pork, brisket and smoked chicken breast or the wings, ribs & bratwurst platter.
As we mentioned, MeatHook has not been open long. That hasn’t stopped one happy diner making his views clear on the venue’s Facebook page:
‘I popped into MeatHook Glasgow for lunch with a friend today and have to say no complaints at all. Full marks. Attentive staff with good food in pleasant surroundings at reasonable prices. What more could you ask for ?’
MeatHook is the sort of place where people pop in for a drink or a bite to eat and end up staying all night.
This Big Deal is a great introduction to the MeatHook menu. Tuck in and enjoy the start of 2016.
