The Big Deal team can’t forecast the weather but we’re pretty certain that you have more chance of enjoying a white Christmas in Glencoe than on Glasgow Green.
If you want to see in the Bells at a Highland Hogmanay or experience Christmas in one of Scotland’s most beautiful regions then today’s Big Deal on an overnight stay at the Isles of Glencoe Hotel is like a tartan-wrapped pressie with your name on it.
Positioned on the side of a peninsula reaching into Loch Leven, The Isles of Glencoe Hotel is a peaceful retreat with spectacular views of some of Scotland’s most famous lochs and mountains.
A family-friendly establishment, the hotel is built in contemporary Scandinavian style and offers the warmest of traditional Scottish welcomes. Outside, the lochside trails and charming woodland adventure playground are ideal for children to explore.
Available from Monday the 24th to Thursday 27th December and from Sunday 30th December to Tuesday 1st January inclusive, the offer is for 2 people to enjoy an overnight stay in a loch view double or twin room at the Isles of Glencoe Hotel. Free WiFi is available throughout.
As well as a bottle of house wine on arrival, guests will enjoy a full Scottish breakfast the next morning.
On Christmas Day, guests can choose to sit down to a traditional three course Christmas Dinner for an additional £40 per person (normal price £45). Guests staying in the hotel on the 31st can enjoy the Hogmanay Gala Dinner.
Including a cocktail and canapé reception, dinner, ceilidh band, piper and late night stovies, the Gala dinner costs £47.50 per person (normal price £52.50).
On other evenings, guests can enjoy meals in the spectacular lochside restaurant.
The menus change daily to reflect the availability of the best local produce and offer a choice between dishes prepared in a classic, simple Scottish style and dishes which look to the rest of their world for their flavours.
Typical dishes might be the roast leg of lamb with a red wine and rosemary sauce; the seafood pie or the roast chicken breast with a spicy peppercorn cream sauce.
As well as a complimentary round of golf at the nearby Dragon’s Tooth Golf Course (club hire not included), guests are welcome to use the hotel’s leisure centre and its facilities which include an indoor heated pool, hydro-seat, bio-sauna and exercise room.
The surrounding countryside offers a wealth of day trip possibilities from castles to distilleries as well as easy or challenging hill walks, mountaineering, golf and adventure sports. Glencoe Mountain Resort is a short drive away if you fancy carving up the pistes.
This offer would make a great Christmas surprise or a romantic winter getaway – especially for a Mum who is perhaps feeling frazzled by festive preparations.
The Isles of Glencoe Hotel has won plenty of fans on TripAdvisor. This is a shortened version of one recent guest’s extensive and positive review:
‘Definitely worth a visit. Glencoe and its surroundings were simply stunning. Booking in was effortless and my wife and I were given a family room facing Loch Leven which was great. Clean and spacious with a fantastic view, what more can you ask for? We were very impressed with the food both for breakfast and for dinner and the view from the window seats in the conservatory were fantastic…’
