The comedian WC Fields once remarked ‘I cook with wine; sometimes I even add it to the food’.
The inventive chefs at The Arches Cafe Bar have been similarly inspired.
Following in the footsteps of French classics such as coq au vin and boeuf Bourguignon, they have devised a pork burger infused with a splash of Buckfast and soy sauce.
Cool cafe bar
The Big Deal is for two people to each enjoy a Burger, served with root veg coleslaw, hand-cut chips and the taste-bud tickling Arches pickle.
Naturally, guests are welcome to add more toppings to their burgers. From pulled pork chilli and haggis via onion rings, smoked cheddar and bacon, the additional toppings cost between £1 and £2.
For those who like their veggie burgers, there is also the option to have the spiced, mixed bean burger which is served on a brioche style bun and comes with the same root veg ‘slaw, Arches pickle and hand-cut chips.
Available Monday to Saturday, from noon to 8:45pm, this offer would be perfect for a night out; a bite to eat after work, lunch or as a pre-theatre meal before catching a performance at The Arches.
