What’s Included

Country house hotel

Victorian charm

Magnificent afternoon tea

Available 7 days a week

Option of 1 or 2 nights

For several hundred years, the monks of Dryburgh Abbey in the Borders lived a peaceful, tranquil life.

These days, monks are rather rare around these parts but the peace and tranquillity remains.

Contemplate the good life with today’s Big Deal on a relaxing break at Dryburgh Abbey Hotel.

The St Boswells destination is on the banks of the River Tweed, next to the ruins of the abbey. It’s the perfect spot for anyone keen to get away from it all while still enjoying levels of comfort which would make an otherwise observant monk cast off his cowl.

Country house hotel

Nestled in a magnificently wooded private estate, Dryburgh Abbey Hotel is a very special four star country house hotel.

Dating back to the mid-nineteenth century, the baronial hotel is situated in the heart of the Scottish Borders, just one hour from Edinburgh and Newcastle.

Surrounded by great golf courses, fantastic fishing, wonderful walking and some fine mountain biking, Dryburgh Abbey Hotel is a lovely spot in which to recharge the batteries.

Abbey room

Available seven days a week, option one of this Big Deal is for two people to enjoy an overnight stay in an ensuite Abbey Room with a full Scottish breakfast in the morning. The offer also includes a magnificent afternoon tea on the day of arrival.

Option two is for two people to enjoy two consecutive nights in an Abbey room on a bed and breakfast basis. Also available seven days a week, option two includes afternoon tea on the day of arrival only.

There is free WiFi throughout the hotel.

Borders produce

The kitchen at the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel loves to use fresh, seasonal Borders produce including vegetables and herbs from their walled kitchen garden.

A full Scottish breakfast and spectacular afternoon tea with gorgeous cakes and pastries are included in the offer. If you choose to take other meals in the hotel then there are a number of options.

The Abbey Bistro is an informal spot for a menu of well prepared bar food favourites while the river view Tweed Restaurant serves dinner each evening.

See & do

The Borders offer fantastic walking, cycling and many sites of historical interest. Country sports are very popular in the surrounding area and the hotel has fishing rights to the River Tweed. Alternatively, guests are welcome to take a gentle stroll around the grounds before retiring to the fireside in the lounge with a good book.

Those who have spent a long day on the hill or river might appreciate the indoor heated pool and sauna at the Dryburgh Abbey Hotel.

Happy visitors

Dryburgh Abbey Hotel has been giving guests happy holidays for many a year. Taken from TripAdvisor, this is what a couple of recent visitors thought of their time at the hotel:

‘Fantastic. Dryburgh Abbey Hotel is lovely. We were looking for a relaxing getaway and this was perfect. This is an old building so don’t expect perfect straight walls or lots of plate glass. Do expect character, creaky floors and top notch cleanliness. Cleanest hotel I’ve been to. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Room tip: Choose an Abbey room, bigger room and most of them face the gardens to the front.’

‘The position of the hotel, on the banks of the River Tweed cannot and does not fail to impress. The hotel staff offer a friendly, warm & courteous welcome & were helpful and pleasant throughout our stay. If you’re looking for either a relaxing country hotel, or a quality base for a sporting break, then this hotel will be perfect for you. The bar area & lounges (of which there are many) are very comfortable. The Tweed Restaurant, offers superb views of the River Tweed & a good range of food plus an excellent wine list! The accommodation needs just one word … QUALITY.’
