Queen Victoria helped put Oban on the tourist map when she declared that it was ‘one of the finest spots that we have seen’.
We at Big Deal Towers agree with her Royal Highness and do humbly suggest that today’s Big Deal at the Oban Bay Hotel is one of the finest that we have seen.
Recently refurbished, this atmospheric hotel on Oban’s picturesque esplanade is the perfect spot from which to discover Scotland’s West Coast.
In the evenings, the sun goes down over the islands and The Oban Bay Hotel offers a romantic vantage point for enjoying the sunset.
With Oban just over a couple of hours drive from Glasgow and under three hours from Edinburgh, today’s offer is ideal for an easy autumn getaway.
The Big Deal is for two people to stay one night in a double or twin room at the Oban Bay Hotel on a dinner, bed and full Scottish breakfast basis.
As well as a full Scottish breakfast, guests will enjoy a delicious 3 course table d’hote dinner at the Oban Bay Hotel.
Typical dishes include stir-fried spicy chicken and peppers, steak pies, smoked salmon platters and the ever popular haddock in crispy batter with proper chips and mushy peas. The catch of the day option is always a winner.
Of course, visitors are also welcome to enjoy free use of the spa facilities and the outdoor hot tub with its views of the bay.
All the rooms have been restored to the highest standards and many enjoy stunning panoramas. They all feature a private bathroom, hairdryer, TV and hot drinks facilities.
Outdoor hot tub
As well as an outdoor hot tub (did we mention its views?), the hotel has a mini-spa which offers treatments such as aromatherapy, reflexology and massage.
Full use of the sauna, steam room and massage chair is also included in the deal.
Alternatively, you could just chill in the spacious sun lounge and gaze at Mull, Kerrera and the Firth of Lorne.
Stretch your legs
If you want to stretch your legs then there is plenty to do in Oban. You could visit Oban Distillery, walk up to McCaig’s Tower or stroll up Pulpit Hill for a superb view out over the town. Ganavan Sands are not far away and there are loads of opportunities nearby for golf, walking, wildlife spotting and boat trips.
The Oban Bay Hotel has attracted plenty of positive reviews on TripAdvisor. This is what a couple of recent guests thought. We’ve edited for length but not meaning:
‘Wonderful. Lovely hotel, lovely staff, lovely food lovely surroundings, what more can I say. Had a lovely stay, I enjoyed my spa treatment… I loved the breakfast, the French toast, bacon and maple syrup is a must try. Again I can’t recommend this hotel highly enough.’
