The Ryder Cup will be teeing off in Scotland in a few months time and here at Big Deal Towers we are convinced that it’s not too late for us to be selected for the team.
We just need to work on our short game. And our driving. Bunker shots are a bit iffy too.
Anyway… We are going to polish our game by taking a slice of today’s Big Deal on an overnight stay at the Old Manor Hotel in Lundin Links, Fife.
Close to St Andrews and with two golf courses of its own, Lundin Links is top hole for golfers.
Not that you need to be at one with your mashie niblick to enjoy this Big Deal.
From standing stones dating back millennia to secret bunkers left over from the Cold War, there is loads to see in this picturesque part of the East Neuk.
Built as a country house back in 1872, the Old Manor combines the elegance of the Victorian era with all the modern comforts and luxuries that a 21st century traveller expects.
Set in a glorious location, it enjoys panoramic views overlooking Largo Bay and the Firth of Forth.
Available seven days a week, option one of today’s Big Deal is for an overnight stay in a standard twin or double. Compact enough to be friendly rather then vast and impersonal, the hotel has 23, beautifully appointed, ensuite bedrooms.
A full Scottish breakfast is included in the offer and, with option two, guests can add a two course set dinner for two for an additional £26.
The Seaview restaurant does exactly what it says on the tin and offers a real feast for the eyes. It also has much to offer the appetite.
Specific dishes will change according to what is in season but typical dishes on the 5pm set menu might be the starter of warm duck salad or the tiger prawns in a Marie Rose sauce.
Popular main courses include the mushroom risotto; the haggis-stuffed chicken breast and the pork fillet served with roast new potatoes, seasonal vegetables and a red wine jus.
Desserts such as the treacle tart with clotted cream; the sticky toffee pudding and the lemon tart with raspberry coulis won’t be easy to decide between.
The deal is for a starter and main course or main course and dessert from the 5pm set menu. For a supplement of £10 per person, guests can choose two courses from the A la Carte menu.
The Old Manor has been wowing guests for quite some time. This is what one regular visitor had to say on TripAdvisor recently:
‘To the manor born! One of the best hotels my wife and I have visited recently. The food was excellent and the staff courteous and friendly. They could not do enough for you. Splendid views over Lundin Links Golf Course from our bedroom window. That same bedroom was superb, as was the hotel itself. Definitely go back and would recommend it to anyone.’
