With today’s offer, it couldn’t be simpler to get out there and enjoy it.
16th century tower house
Now privately owned, Mercure Barony Castle Hotel & Spa was originally a 16th century tower house built by the Murrays of Blackbarony.
Sitting pretty in 25 acres of lush gardens, the grand exterior still looks like a fairytale castle but the Barony has been considerably altered since then. Not least in the introduction of all the modern comforts which you would expect to find in a 21st century hotel.
There is free WiFi in all of the hotel’s 78 ensuite rooms along with satellite TV and a hot drinks tray.
This Big Deal is for two people to enjoy a one night stay in one of the hotel’s standard double or twin rooms. A bottle of house wine will be waiting in your room when you check in and a full Scottish or continental breakfast will be served in the morning.
Guests can enjoy full use of the hotel’s leisure facilities including the brand new thermal spa. Featuring a swimming pool, heated loungers, experience showers, swan necks, sauna and spa bath, it’s the perfect place to melt away the stress of everyday life.
Mountain biking fans will know the fantastic Glentress woodland trails are a short drive away. The hotel has mountain bikes which are free for guests to use – perfect for exploring the trails in the hotel grounds.
There’s also a games room with a large screen TV, pool table and board games.
The hotel’s Blue Dug Restaurant is a contemporary space which plays with the building’s past history thanks to little touches like the antler light fittings.
If you choose to take dinner in the restaurant (not included) then you will be well looked after. Serving dishes from around the world, the restaurant has just been given a Healthy Living Award.
After eating, guests can enjoy a nightcap in the welcoming bar.
Previous guests have been very enthusiastic with the hotel staff often receiving special mention for the warmth of their welcome. This is what a recent guest had to say on TripAdvisor:
‘Great hotel within easy driving distance from Edinburgh. Very comfortable and welcoming hotel. Modern decor combines with historic setting. We had an excellent stay and enjoyed the walking in the area returning to Barony to spend time in the spa… with the pool and the restaurant and bar hitting the right spots. Good food; good service.’
