When not rustling cattle, extorting money or fighting for the Jacobites, Rob Roy McGregor liked to relax by putting his Claymore down and his feet up. After a hard week of pillaging, there was nothing he enjoyed more than a getaway break spent sightseeing or catching up with his book club reading list.
Cattle rustling and marauding are frowned upon these days but a getaway break at the Rob Roy Hotel in Aberfoyle is a steal with today’s Big Deal.
The deal is for an overnight stay for two people at the Roby Roy Hotel. As well as a bottle of bubbly in the room, the offer includes dinner, breakfast and coffee and cakes on arrival.
Situated in Scotland’s first National Park and at the gateway to the Trossachs, the Rob Roy Hotel is perfect for exploring the surrounding area.
Loch Katrine, Callender, Stirling and Loch Lomond are all within easy striking distance and Aberfoyle itself has plenty to offer; not least the ruins at the Old Kirk which are at the centre of many a local legend.
If mashie niblicks and birdies are more your cup of tea then Aberfoyle Golf Club is just across the road from the hotel.
The hotel has 99 en-suite bedrooms, all non-smoking and with television, telephone and tea/coffee making facilities.
A lounge menu offering freshly produced local food is available throughout the day in the Thistle Bar and the Tartan Room is an excellent spot for lunch or an evening meal. The Ballroom hosts a popular Dinner Dance most Saturdays throughout the year.
