Hands-on experience

Choose your aircraft

You will be able to choose from three aircraft: the Robinson R22, the Robinson R44, or the Robinson R66 Jet Turbine.

Flying a helicopter is one of the most challenging forms of airmanship and you will need to balance direction, speed and altitude with power and pitch.

Your simulator experience is a great introduction to this demanding skill.

Learn to fly a helicopter

At the start of your experience, you will meet your instructor who will give you a detailed brief of the virtual flight ahead.

You will learn the aerodynamic and power characteristics of helicopter flight, including how to use the cyclic, the collective, the pedals and the throttle.

In the simulator, you will be given 20 minutes of hands-on tuition on how to hover, climb, cruise and turn the aircraft.

Once you’ve got the hang of helicopter flight, your instructor will then give you 40 minutes of unaided flying and you can hone your new found skills in the pilot’s seat.

Customise your experience

Choose your departure location from any airport or location in the world and for extra realism the instructor can introduce scenarios including other air traffic, flight routes, weather and – if you’re feeling brave – you can ask to experience an engine failure at altitude.
