‘In The Pines’ is a very old but enduring blues song about an unfortunate soul who spends a bad night in a dark wood. Like most blues songs, it doesn’t have a happy ending.
A song inspired by a night in Pitlochry’s Pine Tree Hotel would be a much happier affair but probably wouldn’t have the same longevity.
Warm, personal service; comfortable rooms and beautiful grounds make for a great break but not such a good blues number.
Avoid the blues with today’s Big Deal on bed and breakfast at the Pine Trees Hotel.
Dating back to 1892, the Pine Trees Hotel has all the character and charm of a traditional Scottish country house hotel but with 21st century levels of comfort.
Nestled in ten acres of gardens and woodland, the four star hotel features twenty individually designed bedrooms, all with elegantly designed ensuite facilities and digital TVs. There is free WiFi in the lounge area.
The Garden Restaurant serves hearty dishes, along with the occasional cosmopolitan twist, and the menus make the most of Scotland’s larder with Orkney herring and Isle of Mull cheese being typical of the ingredients you might find on the menu.
The bar and the lounge with its log fire are understandably popular spots for relaxing with a little, or indeed large, malt whisky.
Guests can work up a thirst by exploring the Highlands and the Cairngorm National Park which are both on the Pine Tree Hotel’s doorstep.
Recent visitors have been delighted with their stays.
‘Any traveller would be hard pressed to find a more heartfelt welcome than the one at the Pine Trees Hotel’ was the Daily Mail’s verdict recently.
Writing on TripAdvisor in July, Armwrestler had the following to say:
‘Wonderful stay . . . We cannot say enough about the staff, they are polite, friendly, efficient and professional. This is the highest standard of service we have received anywhere on our travels here and abroad’.
