The Swiss Alps are fine and we’re not knocking the Rockies. However, when it comes to beautiful mountain scenery, Scotland really is the bee’s knees.
Today’s Big Deal comes to you from the Bridge of Orchy Hotel – a fantastic four star venue near Glen Etive, overlooked by the mighty Beinn Dorain and beside the River Orchy.
Put simply, the hotel is a paradise for those who feel their step is more than a little lighter the moment they get a breath of fresh mountain air.
Found on the A82 between Crianlarich and Glencoe, the award-winning Bridge of Orchy Hotel is deep in the Scottish Highlands yet easily accessible from the Central Belt.
The hotel is two hours from Glasgow and 2.5 hours from Edinburgh. The West Highland Line deposits train travellers nearby while the Glasgow bus service stops right outside the door.
Pretty convenient for a hotel slap in the middle of some of Scotland’s best climbing, skiing and walking.
Individually decorated rooms
Available seven days a week, the offer is for two people to enjoy a two night stay in a Garden View or River View room in the hotel’s recently opened and rather gorgeous extension. A full Scottish breakfast is included.
Decked out in contemporary Highland style, all of these rooms are fitted with large flat screen TV/DVD, iPod docking stations, and luxury White Company toiletries.
Upon arrival you will find a complimentary tray of refreshments including kettle roasted crisps, mineral water, chocolate buttons, Island Bakery cookies and an assortment of teas and coffee.
There is a £25 a night surcharge for Friday and Saturday nights.
Breakfast is included in the offer. Should you chose to take any other meals then the Bridge of Orchy Hotel has an excellent reputation for imaginative Scottish cuisine featuring a fine range of fresh local produce in season.
Guests are welcome to dine in style in the refurbished dining room or soak up the atmosphere and perhaps a dram or two in the bar.
The latter is especially popular in the colder months when the log fire keeps everything toasty.
See & do in Glencoe
Excellent ski-ing and some of the UK’s best climbing are on the doorstep at the Bridge of Orchy Hotel. Add in wildlife watching and the haunting Glencoe and it’s easy to see why the Bridge of Orchy Hotel has a licence to thrill.
This is what one recent visitor had to say on TripAdvisor. We’ve shortened it for length but not meaning:
‘Stylish refurb of traditional roadside inn. The Bridge of Orchy Hotel has recently had an extensive refurbishment and it is so worth a visit. There are three ranks of new bedrooms built down to the riverside and these are very comfortable well furnished stylish modern hotel rooms, everything is of excellent quality… We had dinner in the comfortable dining room, service from the staff was excellent and friendly, dinner was superb and very good value. Location is fantastic, set among the scenic mountains, a great hostelry for walkers and climbers, with their excellent menu also served in the comfortable bar.’
Fantastic gift idea

If there is a friend, loved one or family member that deserves a great Highland break then this Big Deal would make a generous Christmas present.
