Many hotels are boring and have as much character as a cardboard cut-out of a Celebrity Big Brother reject.
With a 400 year long history which features ghosts, highwaymen and old sea salts, the colourful Inn at Lathones in Fife could not be more different.
Starting life as a drovers’ stopover, it has evolved into a much loved four star inn boasting two AA Rosettes and an Eat Scotland award.
21st century comforts
Today’s Big Deal is for an overnight stay in one of the Inn’s Smithy’s or Coachman’s rooms. Decorated in a comfortable, contemporary style, they feature modern bathrooms and LCD TVs with satellite channels.
The Deal is for two people to enjoy an overnight stay, Sunday to Thursday, for £49. If you wish to stay over the weekend, then the Inn requires that book in for both nights at a cost of £98.
The Inn is well known for its award winning food and has been awarded two AA rosettes for fourteen years running.
A full Continental breakfast is included in the Deal and, should you choose to book in for lunch or dinner, then you won’t be disappointed.
Wild boar terrine, hand-dived scallops and braised lamb shanks are the sort of dishes that appear regularly on the menu.
Not one to rest on its laurels, the Inn is also establishing a glowing reputation for its regular series of live music concerts which are held in the old stables and run from folk to rock and back again.
In fact, the venue was recently named The UK’s best music venue 2009 & Finalist 2010 by The Publican.
Not that you have to like music to enjoy the Inn at Lathones. There are plenty of great walks nearby and the famous golf courses of St Andrews are just a short drive away.
The Inn at Lathones scores a decent 4/5 on TripAdvisor. This is what dooood had to say after staying in December:
‘Fabulous hotel and service… staff and management couldn’t have been more friendly, helpful and professional. The food was delicious and of a very high standard, kids loved it too! All in a great weekend and a great start to December – Thanks’
