East Linton used to be an important staging post on the Great North Road, the main mail coach route between York and Edinburgh.
Dating back to at least 1835, The Linton Hotel, then called The Golden Lion Hotel, would have been a popular spot for travellers looking for fresh horses and perhaps an ale or two.
Fresh horses are out of the question on today’s Big Deal with The Linton but a comfy room with character and a great cooked Scottish breakfast are neigh bother at all.
Situated on the edge of the River Tyne in the pretty conservation village of East Linton, The Linton Hotel is a welcoming, independently run, six bedroom hotel.
This offer is for two people to enjoy a one night bed and breakfast stay at The Linton. A bottle of chilled Prosecco in your room on arrival will help you settle in.
The hotel has six comfortable, traditional style bedrooms with free WiFi, TV and a full compliment of toiletries and refreshments. All are en-suite with showers and have stunning views of the hotel’s unique walled garden or the outlying countryside.
A full Scottish breakfast is included in the offer but you won’t be disappointed if you choose to take other meals at The Linton.
The friendly bistro features the best of local produce and, if weather permits, guests can dine in the walled garden on choices like the warm chicken and chorizo salad.
On Friday and Saturday evenings, Haldanes Restaurant opens on the first floor of the hotel and serves fantastic dishes such as the pan-roasted rump of Borders lamb with confit of lambs shoulder, roasted beetroots and an apricot purée.
Alternatively, just head for the bar and enjoy a real ale and the open fire.

There are some 20 golf courses in the local area along with Aberlady Nature Reserve; the Bass Rock; the Seabird Centre; numerous castles and stately homes plus some great beaches. You won’t be bored.
The Linton Hotel has proved popular with both guests and customers who drop by for a bite to eat. Here are a couple of TripAdvisor reviews:
