The original Buzzy Wares was an American baseball player called Clyde Ellsworth ‘Buzzy’ Wares. Unverified rumour has it that he may have been called Buzzy because he once, unsuccessfully, tried to court a lady friend by greeting her with a joke electric buzzer in the palm of his hand. Strangely, she didn’t appreciate his sense of humour and their relationship didn’t progress beyond the first slap.
If only Buzzy had been able to take up today’s Big Deal then his romantic life might have been very different.
Buzzy Wares diner and bar has been dishing up classic American food in Glasgow’s Princes Square since 1988.
Now under new ownership, they are launching a Big Deal Valentine’s Day menu that will have happy couples gazing into each other’s eyes in much the same style as the love-struck pooches in Lady and the Tramp.
Your Valentine’s meal starts with chips, dips and a Bellini cocktail on arrival. From there, you can choose from a range of delicious starters such as tomato and basil soup with crusty bread or salmon fishcakes with a citrus mayo.
The choice of main courses includes the Buzzy Wares’ classic burger, chicken quesadillas and the diner’s own chilli con carne. Leave room for desserts like the ice cream or the vanilla cheesecake.
Your meal will end on a suitably sweet note with tablet and coffee.
All this including a bottle of red or white house wine is yours for £40; a 55% saving on the standard £80.
