Terrible jumpers, reindeer deelie-boppers and day-glo tree decorations are one way of marking Christmas.
A rather more elegant way to celebrate the season is today’s Big Deal with the gorgeous Hotel du Vin at One Devonshire Gardens.
Available Monday to Saturday, the deal is for a superb, four course, Champagne lunch – ideal for a romantic meal, a business lunch, a top notch shopping break or simply because you fancy a culinary treat.
Christmas gift idea
Vouchers are valid from the 2nd of January until the end of March which means that this Big Deal could be used as a rather appealing stocking filler.
Who wouldn’t like a Champagne-fuelled lunch once the kids have gone back to school?
The bistro at One Devonshire Gardens has long been a leading light on Glasgow’s restaurant scene.
Fresh, seasonal and locally sourced are the key words in the kitchen here and the quality of Scotland’s natural larder shines through on the plate.
Along with a glass of chilled Lombard HdV Cuvée Brut Champagne, you and your guest will enjoy a four course lunch from the 5pm Big Deal menu at One Devonshire Gardens.
Specific dishes will depend on the best ingredients available that day but typical starters might be the mushroom tortellini with a cep reduction or the salad of warm goat’s cheese with beetroot and walnuts.
Mouth-watering main courses might feature mussels with hand-rolled tagliatelle, chilli and a lemongrass velouté or a popeseye steak from Cairnhill farm served with goose fat chips.
Desserts such as the pineapple carpaccio with pink peppercorns and coconut sorbet or the cocoa nib cake with marmalade ice cream will bring your meal to a deliciously sweet end.
The fourth course will come in the form of either an intermediate or pre dessert.
