The Big Deal team of holiday boffins have finally figured out the perfect ingredients for a brilliant winter break.
First, take one 17th century drovers inn in Argyll. Add fantastic TripAdvisor ratings plus a head chef with Michelin experience; rosette quality food and reasonable prices.
Stir in welcoming staff; log fires in the bars; some fifty or so connoisseur whiskies to choose from and a cracking selection of real ales.
Set it all in a stunning loch side location on the West Coast of Scotland and what do you get?
Today’s Big Deal on a winter break at the Galley of Lorne in Ardfern. At such an amazing price, you simply can’t go wrong.
Brilliant Christmas gift
One of the top-rated inns in Argyll, the Galley of Lorne has six comfortable and tastefully decorated bedrooms; welcoming bars with roaring log fires and a highly rated restaurant with panoramic views along Loch Craignish and out to Jura and Scarba.
With vouchers valid until the end of March, this offer would make a brilliant Christmas gift.
The promise of a West Coast winter break would add some sparkle to Christmas morning and it would also be convenient – the Galley of Lorne is just a two hours drive from Glasgow.
Full Scottish breakfast
Available seven days a week, option one of this Big Deal is for two people to enjoy an overnight break in a twin or double room at the Galley of Lorne Inn, Ardfern.
Option two is for a two consecutive night stay and option three is for three consecutive nights.
A full Scottish breakfast will be served each morning.
Double Glazing, LCD TV, Satellite Freeview Channels, clock radio with iPod docking facility, wireless internet access, hospitality trays, electric blankets and a most comprehensive guests information book are just some of the standard features in the cosy rooms. No stone is left unturned in the quest to make your stay most comfortable and enjoyable.
There will be a supplement of £10 per room per night for Friday or Saturday stays.
For a £10 supplement, there is the option to upgrade to the Skye suite which, as well as stunning views looking over Loch Craignish to the isle of Jura, also has a large corner bath with an overhead shower.
If you take dinner at the Inn then you will enjoy the best ingredients that the local land, Scottish waters and larder can provide.
The menus change seasonally, but typical dishes include Orkney Hand Dived Scallops, our very own Loch Craignish Mussels, Rare Breed Pork, Barbary Duck and Woodland Pigeon.
Ideal for exploring the Hebridean islands, nearby castles or just walking along the beach, the Galley of Lorne is the perfect destination for a romantic getaway. However, there’s no need to even get in a car once here, the stunning Craignish peninsula has stunning vistas at every turn.
It certainly has plenty of fans on TripAdvisor where, at the time of writing, it has over 250 ‘Excellent’ ratings and has won the prestigious Tripadvisor excellence award in 2011, 2012 and again in 2013. You will see why once you have experienced hospitality the Galley way, like many of their guests to date, they just keep coming back for more.
‘Wonderful stay. My wife and I stayed one night at this delightful hotel. Only six guest rooms with a very large restaurant sun deck, lounge bar and bar. They also welcomed our dog which is a big plus. The decor was very fresh and tasteful. Food was excellent and the breakfast to die for. Situated at the side of the loch. We will be back.’
