A few years back, no-one would have welcomed being invited to do bird – i.e. spend some time at Her Majesty’s leisure – by the Sheriff Court in Glasgow’s Merchant City.

These days the prospects are considerably brighter, with the imposing old building on Wilson Street now housing Citation, a stylish restaurant offering classic and contemporary cuisine.

Thanks to today’s Big Deal, doing bird at Citation has taken on a much more appetising meaning: sharing a whole, slow-roast, hand-basted chicken with a bottle of wine and all the trimmings.

Valid from early January to the end of March 2017, this offer would make a fun gift for friends or family who appreciate creative cooking.

Lovely building

Citation Taverne and Restaurant is housed in the grand, neo-classical Victorian space of the old Sheriff’s Court building.

Available seven days a week, the Big Deal is for two people to share a hand-basted, slow-roasted whole chicken.

As well as a bottle of house red or white wine, diners will be served chipotle slaw, corn on the cob, pommes frites and a selection of dips.
