Seasonal selections

The family-run restaurant has an AA rosette to go with all the rave reviews. Locally sourced and seasonal menus are the key to its success, along with the chefs’ attention to detail.

Available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5pm to 9pm, and Sunday from 12.30pm to 2.30pm and 5pm to 9pm, the Big Deal option one is for two people to share a Chateaubriand board.

This treat for meat-lovers is a carved 450-500g fillet steak which is served with chips, smoked bone marrow ketchup and confit plum tomatoes.

Option two is for two people to each have the five course Turnip & Enjoy spring tasting menu, along with a flight of wines paired to each dish. This allows you to appreciate the skill and invention going on in the kitchen. The menu is as follows:

Blue Murder mousse, pear, honey baked granola (accompanying wine, Camino Real Blanco Rioja)

Nikka cured sea trout, squid cracker, wasabi, sesame and ginger vinegar (Baron de Baussac Viognier)

Duck liver bavarois, agen prune, sea buckthorn, brioche, Armagnac, apple (Baron de Baussac Carignan)

Confit Lamb rump, pearl barley biryani, pistachio, apricot curry gastrique (St, Desir Pinot Noir)

Chervil root cheesecake, caramelia bombe, muscovado and staranise ice cream (Castelnau de Suduirant)

I J Mellis Cheese selection to share, turnip and rhubarb chutney, oatcakes and toasts (supplement of £10)
