Anyone watch Masterchef last week? Squid served on a Clingfilm wrapped bowl that puffed paprika smoke every time you took a forkful.
Looked great but is that really what you want to eat?
No, nine times out of ten, most of us want a thick, juicy steak which is exactly what is on offer with today’s Big Deal with Tempus in Glasgow’s Grand Central Hotel.
Recently renovated, the Grand Central is one of Glasgow’s landmark hotels which has welcomed everyone from Churchill to Frank Sinatra.
With its stylish murals, the hotel’s Tempus restaurant is one of the city centre’s dining hotspots and it has won awards for its locally sourced, seasonal menus.
This Big Deal is for two people to each enjoy a 7 oz prime beef fillet with hand-cut chips, vine tomatoes and creamed mushrooms.
The restaurant is a member of the Scotch Beef Club and all their magnificent steaks are quality assured Aberdeen Angus from Ballindalloch.
The Big Deal also includes a glass of Californian Marmesa Chardonnay or Marmesa Syrah.
Steak, wine and chips. It’s a simple deal but effective.
Tempus at Grand Central is a hit with 5pm diners. At the time of writing, it has been rated a very respectable 4.2/5. This is what diner Jim Hewitt had to say after a recent visit:
‘Simply superb, attentive staff, excellent menu & lovely surroundings, 5 star all the way.’
Excluding Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, this deal is valid until the end of March. It would make a lovely stocking filler or you could snap it up for yourself and look forward to a delicious steak dinner in 2012.
