The term ‘hidden gem’ can be a little overused at times. But we reckon that The Pipers’ Tryst truly deserves that description.
Based in a converted church that is now the National Piping Centre, the restaurant serves gourmet Scottish cuisine in an atmospheric setting. Maybe that’s why so many TripAdvisor users have given it rave reviews after stumbling upon it.
So if you are scratching your head trying to think of a Christmas gift for the foodie in your life, then look no further than this Big Deal for a steak meal for two with a bottle of wine.
Restaurant in a converted church
The Pipers’ Tryst is a cosy and welcoming Scottish restaurant in the National Piping Centre at Cowcaddens. The converted church also houses a hotel, museum and heritage centre as well as a bagpipe shop, meaning there is plenty of tartan chic.
The restaurant itself is decorated in a modern style and showcases quality Scottish dishes made with locally sourced produce.
This Big Deal is for two people to enjoy a 8oz ribeye steak with a house bottle of red, white or rosé share. Your steak will come with the accompaniments of chunky hand-cut chips, grilled tomato, mushroom and peppercorn sauce.
You can also swap your wine for two soft drinks each if you prefer.
This offer is available on selected dates until the end of February, with lunch and evening meal options available. Please note that it excludes all dates in December.
Handy city centre location
The Pipers’ Tryst is very easy to get to, even if you are travelling from outside of Glasgow.
Both Cowcaddens underground and Buchanan Bus Station are a short stroll away, while Queen Street and Central train stations are around a 15-minute walk. Pay parking is available nearby on Cambridge Street.
The restaurant is also close to the Sauchiehall Street shops and Buchanan Galleries shopping mall.
As mentioned, TripAdvisor users have lavished praise on the The Pipers’ Tryst. Here are some recent reviews, edited for shortness:
‘We stayed for 5 nights in The Pipers’ Tryst Hotel and ate two dinners there – the first, out of curiosity, and the second because we realised this was the best food we’d had in Glasgow! They have a terrific chef, and each night we ordered his/her special. And it did not disappoint. The prices are moderate, and because it’s quite small, the dining is quiet and comfortable. We would definitely return the next time we are eating in Glasgow!’
‘Dined here twice in space of a few days. In both cases the food & service was exemplary. Good to find somewhere in Glasgow that actually serves good Scottish dishes to a really high standard….’
‘Trusty Tryst. Whether it is a business dinner, family celebration or a true tryst, this is the place to have it. Lovely food and beautifully presented.’
