What’s the new name for the popular East Kilbride restaurant previously known as Peter’s Seafood and Grill?

The answer is 38. Or, in the case of the re-branded local restaurant, Number 38 Bar & Grill. Today’s Big Deal is for a sirloin steak for two plus a bottle of wine to share.

Night out with steak and wine? Sounds more than fine.

New name, new menu

Up until recently, Number 38 was known as Peter’s Seafood and Grill, a long-running popular dining spot in East Kilbride’s old village area.

Peter’s nephew has now taken over and totally updated the menu. Quality grill items are an offer alongside seafood dishes, plus creative desserts.

This Big Deal is available from Tuesdays to Thursdays, plus Sundays too. You can either dine at lunchtime from noon to 2pm or in the evening from 5pm to 8.15pm.

You’ll both get an 6oz steak with your choice of classic sauce, plus a bottle of house white or red to share.

Guests can upgrade to one of the carefully chosen wines from the wine list for a supplement, payable at the time of dining.

Sizzling steaks

Number 38 is a smart, cosy restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere. The focus is on traditional food with a contemporary twist, using the best fresh, local and seasonal ingredients.

Steaks at Number 38 are supplied from Millers of Speyside, who provide selected cuts of Aberdeen Angus hung for 45 days. This creates a more mature, concentrated, textured flavour.

You’ll be sampling the 6oz sirloin steaks, matured on the bone for extra flavour. They will be served with fried onions, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and hand-cut chips, plus you’ll have the option of pepper, Diane or Balmoral sauce.

Starters and desserts aren’t included in this deal, but you may want to add an extra course or two to your meal. Menus can change, but starter options might include soft shell crab and king prawn tempura, pan seared scallops or the popular Stornoway black pudding with burnt sweetcorn puree finished with a poached egg.

Desserts could include homemade bakewell tart, delicious sticky toffee pudding or the local favourite – chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream.

‘Went out for a meal to No 38 with my husband, my sister and her husband can honestly say it was the best meal I have ever had! The staff were so friendly and welcoming we were made to feel very comfortable. They made sure our glasses were never empty… I then had the sirloin steak and chips with peppercorn sauce. I asked for the steak rare and it came exactly to my liking. The chips were large chunky chips with skin on crispy on the outside and soft on the inside absolutely delicious. Steak is my favourite meal and I can be pretty fussy, this was hands down the best steak I have ever had…this is easily my favourite restaurant and I shall be returning to sample the rest of the menu. High quality food at very reasonable prices and I will be speeding the word to anyone looking for a nice meal this is the place to go best meal ever! Very talented chef!’ Rating 5/5
