We’re enjoying the odd burst of sunshine that seems to be appearing lately.
It makes us plan ahead for the summer, when we fully expect to see our friend Mr Sun in the sky (oh, the optimism!)
And we are going to start with today’s Big Deal with Urban Bar and Brasserie on St Vincent Place, right in the heart of Glasgow.
Today’s Big Deal for a three course meal for two at Urban Bar & Brasserie is valid until the end of June, perfect for a start-of-summer food fest.
Meal for two
This Big Deal offers the chance to enjoy a three course meal from Urban’s new menu featuring many of Urban’s favourites.
The menu may be subject to change, but will look very much like the following:
Haggis bon bons with creamy mushroom sauce
Soup of the day with homemade bread
Smooth chicken liver parfait with apple & pear chutney and toasted brioche
Butternut squash & chilli hummus with warm pitta
Pink peppercorn-dusted calamari with saffron aioli & caramelised lime
Mushroom, asparagus, and sunblush tomato penne
Pan roast chicken with butternut puree, crushed potatoes & rosemary jus
Michael’s burger – brioche bun, Hunter pickle, relish & chips
add smoked bacon, Mull Cheddar, blue cheese, caramelised onions (£2 supplement each)
Pan fried bass and prawn, Feta & apple salad
White chocolate cookie dough crème brûlée, vanilla shortbread
Chocolate orange cup with popping candy ice cream
Comte with chutney, grapes, & oatcakes
Ice cream of the day with warm chocolate sauce
This Big Deal is available Sunday 12.30pm to 9pm, Monday to Thursday from noon to 9pm, and Friday from noon to 5pm.
Beautiful brasserie dining
Urban Bar & Brasserie is situated on St. Vincent Place, and is actually the former home of the Bank of England’s Scottish headquarters, making it an impressive spot for a meal. Inside, you will find an Art Deco dining room that blends old school elegance with a contemporary edge.
Wherever possible, Chef John Paul Lappin uses locally sourced and seasonal ingredients to create eclectic food with a strong French ethos. Menus are complemented by a well thought out wine list.
Urban Bar & Brasserie has enjoyed recent enthusiastic reviews from 5pm customers, including these ones, which we’ve edited for length:
‘Excellent meal. We have visited urban once before and have to say the whole experience was excellent. The food and service was first class. We can’t wait to go back.’
‘Definitely one of my favourites. A pleasure to be back here… so much so am back for an ‘action replay’ next week … absolutely nothing negative to say about Urban Brasserie… love it. Menus changed from last visit few months ago but everything on offer looked delicious…’
‘Lovely food in a beautiful setting. Busy but without too much noise and no one sitting too close to us. Service great. We had a really lovely evening.’
Pray for sunshine
We can all hope that the sun is out in good form and we can wander around the shops, visit the park or take a stroll down by the water.
Available from the start of May until the end of June, this Big Deal from Urban Bar & Brasserie will give you the chance to try out their menu in between all the fun in the sun (we hope).
It would also make a brownie points grabbing gift.
