Housed in an impressive building that was once a Greek Orthodox church, Chez Mal in Malmaison hotel is a very atmospheric dining spot.
With its glittering domed ceiling, vibrant murals and relaxed brasserie-style service, this city centre venue is ideal for both relaxed meals and special occasions. Plus the candlelit booths make it a cosy and romantic spot to dine in when the weather is cold.
The kitchen team is led by Head Chef John Burns, who has helped to oversee an exciting new set of warming dishes for winter.
Two courses with a drink
Available until the end of March, this Big Deal is for two people to have a starter and main course or a main course and dessert from Mal’s winter prix fixe menu.
The offer also includes a glass of Prosecco or cocktail for each guest. Cocktails are from the Classics or Twists ranges.
The Classics comprise of our old friends Martini, Negroni, Cosmopolitan, Whisky Sour, Pina Colada, Mojito, Manhattan and the Old Fashioned.
The Twists section features the Vesper Martini, White Negroni, Metropolitan, New York Sour, Painkiller, Gin Gin Mule, Tawny Manhattan and a Smoked Old Fashioned.
Since it’s winter, ours is a Whisky Sour, thanks.

Menus are seasonal, and subject to change, but guests can expect something along the lines of the following:

Slow roast brisket, Bury black pudding potato rosti, Madeira jus & Cotswold fried egg
Pan-fried cod, fregula pasta, chorizo, tomato, red chilli & kale
Hot game pie – pheasant, partridge, venison – all butter puff pastry & warm pickled red cabbage
Pumpkin and chestnut ravioli, sage & pine nut butter & amoretti
Warm spiced red wine poached fruits, vanilla ice cream & toasted almonds
Millionaire Valrhona chocolate mousse, shortbread, caramel & Valrhona chocolate mousse
Seville orange marmalade steamed sponge, Cointreau custard
Artisan cheese slate, choice of three from the cheese tray
Guests are welcome to order additional courses and side dishes. A 10% service charge will be added for extras.
