Here at Big Deal Towers, we have yet to have our first taste of turkey and already we’re over it.
Instead, we’re looking forward to eating fresh and seasonal with offers like today’s Big Deal at Urban Bar and Brasserie.
A rather suave restaurant on St Vincent Place, Urban Bar and Brasserie is run by Head Chef David Clunas who serves classic dishes presented in his own inimitable and contemporary style.
Fresh, seasonal and, wherever possible, locally sourced products are at the heart of his cooking.
Today’s Big Deal is for two people to enjoy a three course meal from the seasonal market menu in Urban Bar and Brasserie.
City centre elegance
Once home to the Bank of England’s Scottish HQ, Urban Bar and Brasserie has retained its dashing good looks.
Decked out with wood panels, stunning flower displays and ornate cornicing, it is rather an elegant city centre spot.
The offer is for two people to each have a starter, main course and dessert from the market menu. The exact dishes will depend on the ingredients in season but this recent menu should give you an idea:
Soupe du jour
Smooth parfait of chicken livers with plum chutney and oatcakes
Prawn cocktail with chilli and lime
Roquefort, French bean and Granny Smith salad with walnut dressing (V)
Crab linguine with citrus oil, chilli and rocket
Fillet of sea bass on gem salad, with watermelon and goat’s cheese
Lemon and garlic marinated chicken with cous cous and tomato oil
Flat cap, red onion and Comté tart with red pepper cream (V)
Sirloin steak with pepper sauce, button mushrooms and fries (£6 supplement)
Roquefort and Comté with apricot chutney
Caramel and apple crème brulée
Walnut brownie with peanut butter ice cream
Golden syrup sponge with vanilla ice cream
The Urban Bar and Brasserie won two AA Rosettes within months of opening but the critics that really matter also love it.
At the time of writing, more than 900 people have booked meals at Urban Bar and Brasserie through 5pm. Together, they have awarded the restaurant a fantastic combined score of 4.4/5.
This review was left recently by a diner on Urban Bar and Brasserie’s 5pm entry. It is brief and to the point:
‘Excellent. Great food. Great service. Great price.’
Christmas gift idea
Available Sunday to Friday, this offer would be perfect for a working lunch, pre-theatre meal; afternoon shopping break; a romantic night out or a lazy Sunday afternoon lunch with friends or family.
With vouchers valid until the end of February 2015, it would also make a great Christmas gift.
