We are not saying that steak and chips can solve every problem – world peace remains elusive.
However, there are very few difficulties which don’t appear considerably less thorny after eating a fine steak, especially when it’s accompanied by a glass of wine.
Let things look rosy with today’s Big Deal on a steak meal for two in the Restaurant and Bar at Number 10 in the Southside.
Chic, boutique hotel
Set in a stunning location with beautiful views over Queen’s Park, No 10 is a chic, boutique hotel on Queens Drive.
Featuring sleek contemporary design and original Victorian features, the Restaurant and Bar are at the buzzing heart of the hotel.
Available seven days a week, from noon to 9pm, the offer is for two people to each have an 8 ounce rib-eye steak with hand-cut chips and a garnish of grilled tomato and flatcap mushrooms.
As part of the offer each guest will also enjoy a 175ml glass of house wine; a selected bottle of beer or a soft drink.
The kitchen at Number 10 prides itself on sourcing from local suppliers such as the butcher William Christie and Son as well as fruit and vegetables from McClouds at Glasgow Fruitmarket.
Make a day of it
Number 10 is a short walk from Hampden Park stadium, and is also ideally placed for visiting attractions such as the nearby Burrell Collection or Tramway theatre. Today’s Big Deal would be great for lunch or dinner after a visit to the Burrell Collection.
There are regular train services to Glasgow Central from the nearby Crosshill train station. Alternatively, the hotel also has free on-site parking.

The following recent review is typical:
‘A hidden gem. A bit off the beaten track, but worth finding, Number 10 was everything the reviews claimed. Our pre-theatre meal was excellent, with all five of us agreeing that the quality was outstanding. Excellent service and a most pleasant experience!’ Rating 5/5
Steak, chips and a glass of wine for two – this Big Deal may be simple but it ticks all the boxes.
