Today’s Big Deal with Tempus Restaurant in the Grand Central Hotel is a dead cert – dinner for two.
Beautifully renovated and re-opened in 2010, the Grand Central is one of Glasgow’s landmark hotels and it has welcomed everyone from Churchill to Frank Sinatra through its doors.
With its stylish murals, the hotel’s Tempus restaurant is one of the city centre’s dining hotspots and the kitchen has won several awards for its locally sourced, seasonal menus.
The offer is valid until 31st March and would be perfect for a cosy meal or catch up with friends.
Available seven days a week, the Big Deal is for two people to each have two courses from the Tempus market menu with a glass of Prosecco each.
The menu changes regularly, but a typical menu would be as follows:
White onion soup, leeks, croutons (v)
Chicken and smoked bacon terrine, celeriac slaw, endive
Whisky-cured salmon, pickled fennel and radish, herb crème fraîche
Seared Scottish scallops, truffle linguine, roast chicken jus (£5 supplement)
Crisp duck leg, hoisin and sesame dressing, chicory, bean sprouts (£4.50 supplement)
Roasted pork loin, pearl barley arancini, beetroot, honey and cider sauce
Panko-coated plaice fillet, creamed potato, kale, tartare dressing
Thyme and honey-roasted butternut squash, orzo pasta, baby spinach, Dunlop Cheddar (v)
Steak frites (£7.50 supplement)
8oz sirloin steak, fries, house salad, peppercorn sauce
Crayfish and scallop gnocchi, sweetcorn, kale, lobster and brandy cream (£8 supplement)
Plum and almond choux crown, spiced rum mascarpone
White chocolate and vanilla cheesecake, caramelised apples and walnuts, apple sorbet
Sticky toffee pudding, salted caramel, Arran Dairies tablet ice cream
Arran Cheddar, Arran Blue, onion chutney, oaties, grapes (£4.50 supplement)
Guests can choose a starter and main course, or a main course and dessert. You can add an additional course for £5 per person. Sides and sauces are available, payable directly to the restaurant.
Please note: throughout December, the market menu will be replaced with the festive menu.
Tempus at Grand Central is a hit with 5pm diners. At the time of writing, over 1480 5pm customers who have booked in to Tempus have given the restaurant a very impressive combined rating of 4.2/5.
