Citation is a truly impressive Glasgow restaurant, perfect for a romantic date, pre-theatre treat or special celebration.

Today’s Big Deal is for a two course meal for two from the 5pm menu, accompanied by a bottle of wine.

You can choose a starter and a main course. Individual menu items can change, but here is a selection of what you can expect:

Starters

Soup of the day with sourdough bread

Steamed mussels in cider, thyme & bacon cream with toasted sourdough (£3 supplement)

Creamed goats cheese – apple, celery, pickled walnuts, chicory, chervil (v)

Potted Loch Fyne smoked salmon, sourdough, onion and apple pickle

Ham hough, pistachio & tarragon terrine, peach chutney, oatcakes

Main courses

Battered haddock & hand cut chips, pea puree, tartar sauce

Market dish – chef’s daily creation fresh from the ‘Market’ (v)

Breast of chicken,bacon, carrots, leeks, creamed potatoes, watercress pesto

Fillets of sea bass, crushed new potatoes, spring vegetables, garlic & anchovy dressing (£5 supplement)

Steak burger, brioche bun, gherkin, gem lettuce, tomato & fries

Mac & cheese, herb crust, garlic bread (v)

This deal is available until the end of March 2019, with lunch and evening dining options available.

Landmark Merchant City venue

Citation Taverne & Restaurant is housed in the magnificent former Sheriff Court building on Wilson Street. From the moment you arrive you know that you’re in for a special meal, as it’s easily one of the city’s most impressive dining spots.

The Tron Theatre, Old Fruitmarket and Princes Square are all within easy walking distance, so you could pair this with a show or day out shopping.

There is limited on-street parking nearby and pay parking on Glassford Street. Central and Queen Street stations are both a ten-minute stroll away.
