Over the years, everyone from The Beatles to Nat King Cole via Roy Rogers’ horse Trigger has stayed at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow.
We can’t guarantee that you’ll be sitting between Sir Paul and Ringo but, take up today’s Big Deal, and you will enjoy a great meal at Tempus – neigh bother.
Choice of 4 main courses
This splendid Big Deal is for two people to each enjoy a main course and a glass of Prosecco in the eye-catching surrounds of Tempus, the gorgeous restaurant in the recently refurbished Grand Central Hotel.
As well as enjoying the chilled Prosecco, diners can choose between four delicious dishes:
Chargrilled hake fillet served with vine tomato and basil crushed new potatoes, lemongrass and coconut milk essence
A combination of slow confit Ayrshire pork with buttered Savoy cabbage, heritage carrots, parmentier potatoes and thyme essence
Marinated chicken supreme grilled and served with Puy lentils, chickpeas and tandoori sauce
Sicilian caponata and fresh egg tagliatelle with roasted garlic, cherry tomatoes, Pecorino and marjoram oil
Hotel with history
Re-opened in 2010, the Grand Central is one of Glasgow’s landmark hotels and it has a colourful history.
In addition to the guests we’ve already mentioned, Laurel and Hardy, Churchill and Frank Sinatra all popped in at one point in the past.
The Tempus Restaurant really looks the part for such a historical hotel. Murals of steam trains and Glasgow’s industrial heritage link it with the next door train station while the stripped floors and vibrant purple banquettes give it a contemporary edge.
Popular with 5pm users
Since re-opening, Tempus has been a big hit with many 5pm customers and, at the time of writing, just under 140 of you have given it a combined rating of 4.2/5. This is what a recent, very enthusiastic, visitor had to say:
‘Fabulous. Cannot praise highly enough. Working in the hospitality trade myself, I can be over critical. However dinner on the set menu was great. Great service from moment walked in, got lovely booth which was quite private for a good girlie chat, not huge choice on set menu but we all commented on how tasty and well presented food was. Wine that came with meal was good too… All in all, would say to anyone to definitely give it a go, well worth the money.’ Rating 5/5
